Carbon Footprint of the Tectoniques Architecture Firm
Tectoniques Architects
With a longstanding commitment to responsible architecture, Tectoniques is fully aligned with the objectives of RE2020, which establishes an ambitious new regulatory framework to limit the carbon footprint of the building sector. Recognizing the central role architects play in the ecological transition—particularly through bioclimatic building design and the selection of low-carbon materials—the firm makes environmental impact a fundamental driver of its projects.
In line with this commitment, conducting a carbon assessment of its activities, accompanied by the development of an action plan, is a key step toward measuring, understanding, and tangibly reducing the environmental footprint of its professional practices—in keeping with the commitments reflected in its projects.

Our Mission
The mission involved identifying emission sources related to the agency’s operations, paying particular attention to architectural design, with a focus on new construction and renovation projects. Since the team was already aware of these issues, we were able to concentrate our efforts on an in-depth analysis of carbon impacts—particularly those of the projects themselves—in conjunction with technical studies.
The analysis also covered business travel and visitor travel, meals, fixed assets (IT and facilities), waste, and on-site energy consumption.
Concrete action steps were identified and categorized as follows:
- Projects: systematic integration of carbon impact starting with the Preliminary Design Phase (APD), drafting of low-carbon-oriented technical specifications, and systematic environmental comparisons of technical options
- Responsible procurement: drafting a charter, switching to suppliers that report their carbon footprint, and using refurbished products
- Travel: implementation of a sustainable travel policy; exploration of mobility solutions
- Day-to-day office life
